Depot Supervisor, Structural Support Solutions – Birchwood, Warrington

In line with our ambitious growth plans and commitment to customer service MGF are launching a new range of structural support products. Our new business, MGF Structural Support Solutions will be based at Birchwood with depots across the UK.

Can you assess priorities and assign tasks accordingly, ensure deadlines are met, train employees, and give instructions to ensure people work efficiently and effectively? The Role:

As Depot Supervisor you will have a pivotal role in the depot, ensuring the safe running of the depot and yard. You will be responsible for managing yard and workshop activities and operations, ensuring the depot runs efficiently and effectively subject to legislation, Company regulations and procedures and maintaining the highest levels of customer service.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for;

  • Maintaining the standard and quality of all the kit in the Depot, including all Mechanical Plant, FLT’s HGV’s, Vans, etc.
  • Reporting any non-conformity to management
  • Ensuring picking lists, checking in returns and Goods In / Out procedures are followed
  • Controlling the repair process
  • Prioritising work to meet order requirements
  • Advising hire desks of issues affecting order deadlines
  • Overseeing and managing the assessment, pricing and repair of equipment damages and losses.
  • Ensuring lorries are loaded / unloaded safely
  • Completing maintenance record books for plant and tools, reporting any defects
  • Ensuring all stock of tools and consumables are adequate
  • Ensuring the working environment is kept safe, clean and that the facilities are looked after
  • Opening and closing of the depot, including being on callout for alarm system

Who we want:

Ideally you should have:

  • People skills with proven ability to manage and motivate staff under your control (minimum of 5 years’ experience within a supervisory capacity).
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong IT Skills (MS Word, Excel and proprietary database systems).
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.
  • Health and Safety knowledge with the ability to brief teams in safe working practices. IOSH Managing Safely Qualification (or equivalent) is preferable.
  • A passion for quality and presentation of equipment and good housekeeping.
  • A technical background with the ability to read engineering drawings, experience within a construction/ groundworks environment is preferable.

A HNC in Construction (or equivalent) would be an advantage but not essential.
