Drag Boxes

Drag Boxes

MGF Drag Boxes are a simple to assemble, two sided mechanical shield system designed to be installed by an excavator utilising the ‘excavate and drag’ technique. They are normally selected for installing utility pipes in non-urban environments where fast pipe laying rates are required. The system works by using a raised strut at the back of the panel allowing the box to be dragged over the installed section of pipe.  The size of the system is dependant upon the maximum depth required and the size of the pipe sections and bedding.

  • Our boxes are fabricated in-house from fully welded grade S355 120x60mm or 200x100mm steel box sections to form 60mm or 100mm thick panel.
  • Drag Box panel pairs are propped off each other by robust telescopic struts which are available in a variety of lengths and are connected using a simple pin and clip assembly
