Graduate Design Engineer

MGF are currently seeking Graduate Design Engineers to join a leading Temporary Works Design Department in Astley, Manchester. Specialising in temporary works design, the successful candidates will be working within a 30 strong, busy Engineering Department utilising state of the art software and systems.

In the engineering department you will report directly to the Design Manager and have responsibility for:

  • Production of customer design schemes and drawings on a day-to-day basis to satisfy customer demand
  • Checking designs / drawings
  • Managing your own designs
  • Assist the Design Manager as required
  • To produce “one-off” project work as directed
  • Technical Site Service support
  • Contribute to the smooth and effective operation of the department

The ideal candidates should have a Civil Engineering Degree, good working knowledge of AutoCAD software and strong analytical abilities. A professional manner with good communication and IT skills is also required. Experience working within a similar design role would be preferred but is not essential as would structural design, geotechnical design and temporary works knowledge. An ICE company approved training scheme will be provided to suitable candidates.

Following initial training, the successful candidate would be expected to manage their own designs and attend site meetings / inspections nationwide in support of their design work. The position offers a high degree of responsibility very quickly for candidates with the right aptitude.
